Use real Table ware

Dont know if this is true but...... experts recommend using real table ware & cultery (the more expensive & more elaborate the better!!!! ) as it'll make you feel like you have eaten a full meal. In that way, you might snack less at other times!

Studies have shown that people who ate from paper plates with plastic utensils tend to view their meal as just a snack. And although they might consume less calories from the "real plate" group, they tend to eat another meal later. And this adds up!!!

The environment does influence how much we eat. This brings to mind airline meals. Dont you always go some where for food after landing. Like after a flight even though you have just eaten onboard? Cant speak for the rest, but I do, I always feel like having a good meal after!!!!! Hmmm... dangerous!!!

Strategic storing of food in the fringe could SAVE U!

OK not so dramatic as "saving you" but definitely could shape the way you eat.

1. According to experts, placing vegetables, fruits & all those healthy food at eye level increase your chances of eating them VS snacking on the unhealthy ones! That's why big companies pay alot to have their products place at eye level in the super markets-

2. If you already bought the junk food, hiding it out of sight helps!!!! Again place the healthier snacks in the front & centre & stash the junk behind....lol....

3. Buy less each time, you might have to shop more. People do tend to reduce consumption when stocks run low. It's a psychological thing...lol....

How to overcome food craving?

Hmmm... that's a million dollar question isnt it? I think all of us need a realistic flexible eating plan.
Many people 'starve " or eat too little & go into defensive mode when cravings strike. Then they cheat.... feel guilty, resist ....cheat some more , feel even worse. It's a desperate cycle.

Some experts said it's best to wait it out. Why? Because according to them most cravings pass within 20 mins since it's psychological!

What could hinder weight loss?

Interestingly counting calories , tracking them in a diary may induce stress, thus hindering weight loss. In some studies it's reported dietors who cut calories saw their levels of cortisol, a stress hormone linked to weight gain increase.

And those who kept journals reported feeling stress (resisting temptation can be stressful). Suggestion is to concentrate on excerise plan & food choices & not counting calories.

If you are heavy avoid eating with your skinny buddy!

Ok I chance upon this old article during one opf the flights. Someone left it around so during my break I read it. It goes like this:

If you watch a skinny person order alot of food, you'll tend to eat more!!!!!

Conversely watching a heavy person eat alot can inhibit your eating.

Some studies were performed & they found out that you'll order less around people who are careful about what they eat.

Interesting isnt it? Does it mean that if you are slim hanging out with a heavier person who likes to eat can actually help you indirectly. But if you are the heavy one, hmmm... try not to hang out so often with those super skinny & yet eats alot kinda of friends!!!! Oddly it does make sense to me!!!!

Do we need 8 glasses of water per day?

That's probably one of the most popular health advice. That's about 2 litres of water per day!

I guess this is an extremely smart way to sell lots of bottles of water. Just take a stroll into any  big super mart, you'll see a big section devoted only to bottled water!

The kidney specialist (whatever you call him), who's the guy who specializes in this matter  will tell you otherwise. We need abt 24ml of fluids per kg in weight per day. That'll include all fluids e.g.  any kind of beverages like coffee , tea, soup or even food.   Anything more will be excreted out.

Does drinking more water help in losing weight?

Yes if it's COLD water !
Water curb or suppress appetite by making us feel fuller. It also lowers body temperaturecausing metabolism to rise, trying to prduce more heat.

If not enough water is being consume, the kidneys cannot function properly, that means liver has to step up to do much of it. This lessen it's involvement in burning fats. Resulting in fats which would normally be used as fuel gets accumulated in the body instead.

Drinking enough water means the liver can focus on metabolizing fat!
